The Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation (MSIFN) are a branch of the greater Anishinabek Nation, one of the largest indigenous groups in Canada. With much forward thinking and hard-work, the Mississaugas opened the community economic development project known as the Great Blue Heron Casino. With the Casino came the Baagwating Community Association run by the members of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation and is the charitable-arm of the Great Blue Heron.
The Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation are a long-time supporter of Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Durham and have supported the Winding Roads festival since 2015. MSIFN brings culture into Port Perry through exciting, collaborative and organized events for the community like their Pow Wow held every year with over 40 craft and food vendors.
With their support we can help give back to our youth and improve the importance of their future through new opportunities. To find out more about how Mississauga Scugog Island is making a difference within the community visit Scugog First Nations.
